This is hard
So I am trying to plan my social studies lessons. I have come to the conclusion that it is hard. It is really hard for me to plan a lesson on a subject that i have never seen my teacher teach before. I have no clue how the students are use to getting taught. I guess it doesn't matter as long as the students learn something (hopefully). My teacher doesn't even care what I talk about when I teach them about the community. So I guess it is up to me, to do whatever I want.

Let us know what your topic is and we can give you some ideas if you are having trouble. I am sure that whatever you do your students will enjoy, especially if they are not getting much social studies on a regular basis. I thought it was hard to plan my social studies unit at first too, but then I realized just how broad a topic social studies is and realized that I could tie it in with a lot of things the students are learning in other subjects.
I feel ya on this one. My teacher never teaches them social studies either. I am very frusterated with this. She also does not care what we teach our students either. I wish she did though, so she could give us an idea of what they know or have been taught already. When we ask her what she has taught them already this year she says nothing. That stinks for her class, dont you think? I think our teachers are on the same page! Not prepared!!!
